WATER SHORTAGE THREAT REQUIRES URGENT MEASURES - BAKER1.08.31pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 27th Nov 2003 Norman Baker MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, has today called for Government action to ensure sufficient water resources in the medium term. Mr Baker said: "Water is increasingly becoming a premium product. "The Government must urgently take steps to reduce water consumption through efficiency measures. To promote efficient use of water in the domestic and business sector we need a water savings trust, based on the energy saving trust model. "The Government needs to get a grip on the issue rather than simply leaving matters on auto-pilot."
