Government must encourage people to help the environment - Baker6.56.38pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 31st Mar 2004
Commenting on new research from Powergen, which reveals many people do not think they can make a useful contribution to combat global warming even though it could cut their energy bills, Norman Baker MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, said: "This is classic case of abdication of responsibility by the Government, who should be selling the message to the public that helping the environment can also help your pocket. "If the Prime Minister spent as much effort on the environment as he does on terrorism, people would feel more optimistic about the contribution they could make to help the planet."
