Commenting on the Government's formal response to the Environmental Audit Committee's report on GM crops, Sue Doughty MP, Liberal Democrat member of the committee, said:

"The Government's response shows that on GM it is still not prepared to listen to anyone other than agri-business.

"Ministers refused to listen to the public after calling for a public debate and now they have refused to listen to the Environmental Audit committee's real concerns about the Farm Scale Trials.

"The Government must stop treating those who disagree with it with such contempt."
