SCOTLAND: Single survey pilot just the start says Radcliffe12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 14th Jul 2004 Scottish Liberal Democrat Environment Spokesperson Nora Radcliffe MSP has welcomed the launch of the single survey pilot, which will mean home buyers will not have to waste money on duplicate surveys for properties they don't then buy. Speaking from the Scottish Parliament, Mrs Radcliffe said: "If this pilot is successful, a single survey scheme should be rolled out across Scotland as quickly as possible. The waste of paying for multiple surveys has caused problems for home buyers across Scotland. "This system also offers the key benefit of telling prospective buyers the energy efficiency of the property. "This provides a genuine incentive for home buyers to improve the insulation in their property, saving energy and saving money. It also gives the owners an idea of how much they'll need to spend on heating. "The sooner this scheme is rolled out across Scotland, the better for home buyers and the environment."
